Lang arts: chapter books Book Reviews
I'd like to recommend to everyone a website called Squeaky Clean Reviews: Book Reviews with a Christian focus: http://www.squeakycleanreviews.com/
The reviews are mostly of books for children through young adults and are submitted by youth and young adults (several of my children are contributors). Each review includes descriptions of the plot, morality, spiritual content, violence, drug and alcohol content, sexual content, crude or profane language content, and a concluding evaluation. You might not want your child to read these himself since the descriptions sometimes necessarily contain undesirable content.
If your child loves literature or would like having her book reviews published, you might consider having her become one of the contributors to the website.
If you enter the name ''nienna'' in the search box, you will get a book list that consists mostly of really excellent (edifying and enjoyable) literature. | | sharpening_arrows |
Homeschool helps School Supplies
I have enjoyed stocking up at back-to school sales (or throughout the year). Especially larger families...you just cannot beat purchasing items such as filler paper, pencils, index cards for 1, 5, 25 cents. Also, keep an eye out on your Staples ad for free and low-cost items (sometimes through rebates) on items such as multi-ream packs of paper, a laminator, label-maker, writing utensils, etc.
Furthermore, many office supply places also offer reward points that you can save up for back-to-school shopping.
Next time you see a supply closet at a garage sale, it may be worth the investment with all the supplies you can load in it.
It is also a great way to donate valuable items to local shelters, kids homes, churches, etc. | | bookbliss |
