Finding Your Child's Gift

From day one, I tried to find my child's gifting, her purpose, her passion. I wanted to teach with that in mind, but I just couldn't find it. So, I kept teaching the general subjects that she would need.

In 8th grade, she took an economics course in our co-op. She seemed really excited about it and came home talking about things I knew nothing about. I still didn't realize where this was leading.

Then in high school, she took government and worldview classes at co-op. After a few months exploring other possible careers, she settled on politics.

She is now in college earning a B.A. in Business & Government. She hopes to run political campaigns.

What I learned from this was that there was very little chance of finding her passion in grade school because we weren't doing those types of subjects yet - they were not age appropriate. But God was faithful & in His time showed us where her gifts were. My advice is pray, wait, & explore lots of different things along the way. Your child's gifts will shine when it is time for them to shine.
