Homeschool helps
Nineteen Years and Going Strong

I sound like my sweet grandmother when I say that ''the days go slow but the years go fast''. The same wise thought applies to homeschooling. I cannot believe that I have been homeschooling for nineteen years! I never intended to homeschool my children through high school. In fact, my entry into homeschooling was primarily to save money on pre-kindergarten tuition.

My homeschooling journey has not always been easy; many times the school day dragged on. Years ago, my elementary-age daughter resolutely quit math. I was beside myself with panic as the battle of wills began. I can smile now thinking about her boycott of math. (She successfully completed Calculus as a high school student so it was a happy ending.)

The middle school and high school years are abounding with difficulty as they make the transition from child to adult. As parents and teachers, we take on a demanding role, and it makes for challenging days!

Three of my four children have graduated from homeschool high school. And, despite long days, I would do it all over again. What a treasure I have found on this homeschooling journey. Enjoy the smiles, laughter, and learning that you and your children share on your homeschooling journey.
